Originally i wasn’t going to make any business/commercial posts here, but i guess that’s temporarily gone out the window second post. However i get a lot of inquiries with a common theme, and they are “how much do you cost” and “can you rank me for Property” or some other generic single word.

Ok it’s really hard to put a price on something like this, what i do at first is try and swamp long-tail keyphrases. Have a read of my post SERP Domination where i showed the progress of an ecommerce store we worked on.

As you can see it ranked for absolutely no short, single keywords at first but traffic was good and they were turning a large profit.

By grabbing dozens of lower competition, high conversion keywords it’s a much better first step than targeting terms like “Property” right out of the gate.

You will find the term “Property” is very generic, and is far less likely to convert than something like “Buy Investment Properties in Manhattan” or other combination’s pertaining to your business or location.

The second one long-tail phrase has commercial intent, but the first might be someone looking for a free guide to fixing their property for instance.

But yes the end goal is to bring the domain on the front page for all the related generic terms, but the primary goal of SEO is to drive targeted traffic and turn a profit on what’s been invested.. Preferably as soon as possible.

That’s what i aim to do, so depending on what you want to invest depends on how many hundreds/thousands of these long-tail terms i am able to pull in on that budget.

That’s why i don’t have any set pricing and work to the clients budget. Real SEO is not about getting a keyword in a certain position, it’s a numbers game at bringing in a visitor for $x and converting him for $xx when looking at an average of the combined traffic.

The bigger the gap between those figures, the more effective the SEO is. Just like a regular business, if you can get your product for $1 per unit and sell it at $10 per unit you are operating at a great profit.

That’s what a good SEO aims to do, ranking a certain position for a trophy keyword is secondry to the investment/profit ratio and the whole reason for utilizing SEO for your business.

Hope that makes sense.

Honestly i’ve never had any intentions or desire to create an SEO Blog, because there’s already thousands to choose from and i don’t consider myself as a fantastic blogger.

However until now, i have always posted up info, articles and whatever else pops up over in the SEO Forums but lately things have been getting “lost” in amongst other posts. So i’ve made this mediocre blog in order to keep things all in one place making them easier to find and refer to.

I doubt you will find anything earth shattering here now, or in the future that has not already been covered elsewhere and i don’t know how often i will update this but hey.. Feel free to have a look around.
